There are two insurance options for rentals through PaulCamper. These are important as your private vehicle insurance does not cover damage caused while a vehicle is rented out.
Allianz flexible rental insurance
These are the requirements for renting out your vehicle using Allianz flexible rental insurance (fully comprehensive cover, Europe-wide breakdown cover and interior equipment insurance):
- Your vehicle must be registered as caravan, car, lorry or camper van with a maximum weight of 3.5 tonnes. Please note: Separate breakdown insurance is required for renting motorhomes weighing between 3.5 and 7.5 tonnes.
- Your vehicle must be privately owned and registered in a private name, It must have liability car insurance and have a replacement value of under 100,000 euros.
The costs for flexible rental insurance will be deducted from your rental income.
Self-drive hire insurance
We can also accept vehicles with self-drive hire insurance if the following is included:
- Fully comprehensive cover with excess
- Europe-wide breakdown cover for the vehicle
Self-drive hire insurance can usually be booked for one season or a full year. Depending on the individual insurance available, this option is generally only worthwhile if rentals of your camper are well above average.
If you are renting a private camper, it generally makes more sense to to opt for the flexible rental insurance package. This enables you to rent out your camper at times when you are not using it yourself. The cost of flexible rental insurance is calculated as a percentage of the rental price and depends on the vehicle type. You only pay for flexible rental insurance when you have confirmed a booking for your vehicle. Your own no-claims bonus with your vehicle insurance is not affected.
