Renters are always required to pay a deposit to the owner when they make a booking. The deposit provides security and the payment is recorded in the handover report.
It is up to camper owners to decide how much to charge as a deposit. You can find details of the deposit in the camper profile and the booking confirmation. Deposits are usually between £750 and £1500.
Please note: The deposit is not affected by excess insurance.
Depending on what you have agreed with the owner, the deposit will either be paid in cash when you pick up the camper or by bank transfer to the owner.
Refunding the deposit
If you return the vehicle undamaged at the end of your trip, your deposit will be refunded immediately. Depending on what you have arranged with the owner, the payment will either be made in cash or by bank transfer.
If there has been any damage to the vehicle during the rental period or if any other costs are expected, the owner is entitled to retain the deposit or part of it until the matter has been clarified. If the deposit is retained, the amount must be documented in the handover report.
